My latest customer found Shapira Builders on Yelp.
My client invited me to look at his front door, he wanted me to refinish it.
I found a door that hes been long time neglected. To maintain the health of wood stained door I recommend, once a year to apply some kind of protective oil. I do not recommend polyurethane.
Polyurethane drys and cracks. I use oils such as, Linseed oil or Tung oil.
As I looked at the door, I picked out the darkest spot as a reference to the shade of stain I will be using. I decided to use Ebony stain by Minwax brand. You can make light spots darker but it will not be possible to make the dark spots lighter.
My client understood that and gave me the go ahead to do the job.
It took me four trips to my customer home to do all the steps required to bring the door to the final stage of beauty.
The steps included, light sanding, cleaning, staining twice, a coat of Tung oil and a coat of Linseed oil.
My client was very happy with the results and so was I.
