The homeowners in Scottsdale AZ, asked me to replace double knotty alder doors that were falling apart.

This home have a surroundings block wall with stucco and an arch way for double gates.
This home was custom built for these homeowners.
For some reason, they used two knotty alder doors as gates, that are exposed to the weather.
That was a bad choice of wood specie.
Cedar has a natural resin like redwood and cypress that acts as a protection from any organic attacker such as bugs, bacteria and fungus. Choosing Rot Resistant Wood
I met with my client and showed them on this website gates I have designed and installed in the past.

We made little changes to the original design and hardware.
These gate were made with all cedar wood. The frames are made of 2×6 and 2×8 The panels are 1×6.
The jamb is also made of cedar.
Both gates can be open, one gate has two latch bolts, one at the bottom and one at the top of the gate.
The hinges are 4×4 butt hinges with oil rubbed bronze finish.
The homeowners chose dark stain. The finish coasts are Boild Linseed oil
