Tongue and Groove Pine Ceiling

Installing Tongue and Groove (T&G) planks is not an easy job.

It requires scaffolding, two installers or more and strong necks.
The material has to be straight.

It is very easy NOT to keep the lines straight and true parallel.

The soft pine tongues and grooves need to be in good shape or it would be hard to engage between two planks and to get a tight fit.
I always use a small chunk of the material between the hammer and the plank to prevent hammer damage.

The planks get nailed with pneumatic finish gun.
As the jobs moves along you have to measure to make sure the material is running parallel to the walls.

Once all the planks are installed, trim will be installed along the four walls.

Staining and finishing can be sprayed on you may use rollers and brushes.

The picture is showing a job I did at a room addition facing the swimming pool.

    • It is neat. I have that in our living area here. Actually our living area looks quite a bit like a smaller version of the dining room at the lodge of Mt. Magazine here in AR. I sometimes wonder if that was the intention.

  11. Love the wood ceiling… gives the room great architectural detail! Definitely not a DIY project though and better left to the professionals who know what they are doing.

  12. This is stunning! I'll bet that room is so warm and welcoming.

  13. When a layman sees this finished product, it looks so easy! Sure, DIY! Anyone can do this! Yeah, right? Go try! It takes a true professional to have the perfection shown here! And the reason it looks so easy is because a professional makes it look that way. Dov Shapira is the professional. This work is Amazing!
